About Me

Like many other providers I started out "just babysitting." After a while I realized that I really was enjoying what I was doing and that I had grown beyond being "just a babysitter." I started looking into the licensing process in the Fall of 1998 and received my state license May 3, 1999. In 2002 I earned the Wisconsin Infant and Toddler Professional Credential and in July 2004 I earned my Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. I continue my education, attending state conferences, workshops and classes regularly. A listing of my training is below. In 2011 I will begin the process of becoming nationally accredited by the National Association for Family Child Care.

As a professional in my field I also serve on various early childhood boards and committees including the Child Care Advocate's Council, Child Care Resource and Referral of Central Wisconsin executive board, and the Wisconsin Family Child Care Association executive board. I am also a member of the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association, the National Association for Family Child Care, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

I have been married to Tom for over 20 years, and we have two grown children. My son Josh is married and he and his wife Kalie both go to school at UW Madison. Josh is a computer whiz and constantly amazes me with his entrepreneurial skills. His wife is studying graphic design. My daughter Savannah lives with them in Madison and will be starting college there in the Fall of 2011. She is a very skilled photographer and has been shooting bands, friends, and senior photos for several years. All three of them make me so proud!

When I am not working I enjoy playing games on the computer, scrapbooking and card making, and spending time with my extended family. My mom, who has also been a family child care provider for the past several years, is one of my best friends and you can often find us together shopping, eating, or gabbing.
